Film Noir Research on Prezi
Elements of Noir
Intro Research:
Se7en Intro
Seven introduces us to the three main characters Mills, Sommerset and John Doe. This scene brings us closer to the characters giving them a back story. The close ups used to show Doe hides who he is and we are not aware it is him until he is discovered later in the film. Close ups are common in Neo-noir however our project must have a range of camera shots so we can not do a introduction like this.
Max Payne
Max Payne is filmed in a dark city, the weather is either snowing or raining this is key for noir. The film itself comes from the Max Payne video game franchise and noir is starting to spread into the gaming industry, such as heavy rain and soon to be released L.A Noire.
Heavy Rain
L.A Noire
The Usual Suspects Intro
The Big Combo Intro
Sin City
Sin City uses the contrast of colour and black and white, this technique would be excellent to use for our introduction. The voice over narative is popular within film noir and could be a possible idea for our final opening sequence.

The Usual Suspects starts the film with a scene further into the film.
It shows us the villian however he is totally hidden by the shadows.
The Big Combo Intro
The Big Combo is a classic noir this first sequence shows us the femme fettale, Susan.
The lighting is much like classic noir and goes with the plot of Susan being trapped in a maze.
Sin City
